Anyone got any good homemade halloween costume ideas for young children? Mine are 1 and 2½, both girls..?
I was thinking of making them both flowers with adding flower petals to a hooded jacket, or a bunny, sew ears on a hat and a tail on pants.. anyone got any other good ideas? Did you make your children homemade costumes? If you did, what were they and what did you use??
Thanks!!

Well i’m a twin and I remember when my sister && I were about 3 our mom made us salt and pepper costumes. they were quite adorable if i do say so myself. lol. i’m not quite sure how she made them, I think it was just big pieces of fabric fashioned into a dress-like garment with a big P on one (the gray/black) and a big S on the other (white). I’m pretty sure we had little beret-ish hats too. Also once we were dice which I think was just boxes painted white w/ black dots and then just holes cut for the arms/head. Hope this helped!
Well, one year I dressed my kids as pixies, I put them in a ballet skirt and tights, with wings I made myself, and they carried little wands with sparkes and little tiaras. That might not work with the younger girl, but I would say that the younger one could be a flower…
I like the idea of your little girls being flowers and you could go as a gardener – sun hat, overalls, watering can, etc…
I saw the sweetest costumes on one of those DIY shows. They called it a fairy flower costume.
They bought a brightly colored dress from a thrift shop, that was midday between knees and ankles, belted it in the center with a thrift shop belt, also. You could buy new, though, also. Anyway, at the bottom hem, they just safety pinned silk flowers all the way around it & smaller flowers up at the neck line of the dress, which kind of scooped. They bought just a stretchy head band and hot glued flowers around it at the top for the little girls heads. For the wings, they used toulle & just gathered it with the rubberband in the center of it and pinned it on the back of the dress up near the neckline and fluffed it up so it would plump. They also sprinkled most everything lightly with glitter. For the wand, they bought one of those great big silk gerber daisies. You would have to cut that down becuze your’e children are very young or maybe get a smaller-type flower. Anyway, it was adorable. I wish I could remember what the name of the show was. Those DIY and HGTV shows have lots of Halloween specials on now and you can look them up on their website & they will show you how. Sorry, for going on and on. I just love Halloween. Yes, I used to make a lot of my daughter’s costumes when she was little.
