Best costumes at Halloween party?

Im having a Halloween party for my 5yo ds with his kindergarten classmates. I found these little awards that say things like "scariest costume", "prettiest costume", "most original costume", etc. There are four awards….do you think the other children might get upset for not getting one, too? They will all be getting party favors to take home. I was thinking to make it fun, like have each kid walk down "the runway" showing off their costumes. Then have all the kids vote for the awards.

What do you think?

at 5 i was really competitive, so i would get sad or mad and start crying but what if you bought several packages of the awards and gave one to everyone? unless its a big group i wouldnt give them out. everything sounds fun!

sounds good but i’d give all the kids awards some might get upset if they don’t win

it would be fun but some kids may get mad about nit getting an award.if you can give them participation awards

    I wouldn’t vote on it.
I think that maybe just the adults should decide, because if we raised our hands to vote and no one voted for my costume, I would feel worse than if I didn’t win. :P

Maybe get little ribbons for them all, maybe little ribbon stickers, so there won’t be any hurt feelings. The other kids would get real ribbons or whatever, but the stickers would be a quick fix, just in case.

Cute idea, for the runway. :)

Thats a great idea! I did something similar to that when i was in 1st grade, I didnt win a award that year and neither did alot of other kids so as long as theres not just like 1 kid that doesnt get an award, it should be fine!

maybe, you could give the awards out, but to the kids whpo dont get awards, give them some sweets, or a small gift.

This is a party for 5 year olds. Why do we as adults have to turn everything into a competition. Have the fashion show if you like but don’t judge the children. I am sure they already get enough of that every other day.

I think that everyone should recieve some sort of prize, as five year olds would be very dissapointed if they didn’t get a prize, even if they did get party favors . I love the runway idea!, i think that they’d enjoy doing that. Maybe for each costume make an award, cutest, funniest, etc. Hope that helps:)

that’s a good idea but you should make other awards to like coolest costume most colorful costume and sweetest costume i know you bought the others but they wont care as long as they get a award
