Cheap homemade halloween costumes?
I’m a little short on money this halloween, I need a good homemade costume for a teenaged girl. I’d prefer a more original idea. Thanks!
I mean original, not stupid ghosts!

There’s lots of fun ones!
I have five kids and we’ve all used these:
Ninja: black pullover with hood up, pants, shoes, and a scrap of fabric or a black bandanna with eye holes cut out. You can use scraps of fabric to wrap around their knuckles and wrists too, they love that
Get a big box, wrap it in birthday paper. Cut it down the back so you can slip the kid into it, cut out two arm holes and cut out the bottom. And of course a half moon cut-out around the neck so when you pull the box apart you can slip their neck in there. Decorate it just like a big ol’ present and listen to all the compliments. Make sure it looks nice and you don’t cut any corners with the decorating or it’ll look silly
You can go as a bag of jelly beans: saran wrap around multicolored balloons pinned or stuffed around the kid. Super cute. LoL
Or use all purple balloons and pin like 100 of them suckers to his/her clothes and she can be a bunch of grapes or ‘the purple people eater’ as we told our 3 year old one year. LoL!
Have fun and be creative.. the kids enjoy making them with you too
white bed sheet with two eye holes?
find like a favorite tv show, movie or someting like that then decide who you want to be. I love the blues brothers so i dressed up as Elwood. I also was V from V for vendetta. Also classic not so original- cat, ghost, any animal is easy and fun when you get all your friends to be animals too (i did this and we were a total farm, even with the farmer =])
ghost, goth, hippie, you can just throw on some crazy makeup and put on some clothes to go with it
what about dressing up as Max from the children’s book Where the Wild Things Are? he wears a wolf costume.

animal ears! They’re quite easy to make with a headband and some cheap craft supplies. Just some eyeliner to draw on whiskers and a nose is good too.
Try looking through your parents closet or in the attic…you never know what you might find
One of my best friends dressed up like a MOM(she had mom pants, a fanny pack, ect) It was absolutely hilarious.
How about Miss. America? all you’d need is an old formal dress, a tiara, and a sash(wich you could make yourself)
I also had another friend a few years back dress as a "sleeping beauty"
all she did was dress in pajamas, wear a tiara, and carry around a pillowcase for a treat back…aslo quite clever.
if you want something truly original, then you will have to come up with it yourself. if someone else thinks of it, its not exactly original, is it?
pick your favorite kind of Halloween character (witch, vampire, etc.) or regular character (rock star, movie star, etc.) or time period (60s, 70s, etc.) and go from there. You can also mix these. If you like the 60s, and zombies are your fav. monster, then be a hippie zombie.
Or come up with your own kind of monster.
Also, hit goodwill stores, secondhand stores, consignment shops, etc. to get "new" clothes to make the costume as a way to cut cost and not have to ruin your own clothes when creating the costume. This is what I did to create a Jason costume last year, without actually having to rip up my own pants and pour fake blood on them (which can stain).
