I´m thinking about wearing my cat costume to class that day.

Yes, you probably can wear your cat costume to your German classes. I am sure everybody will appreciate your American traditions.
In our schools kids usually do not wear costumes on Halloween, only for Karneval (which is in february or march).
We also do not have the trick or treating in our area.
In the bars people start to celebrate Halloween. Lots of drinking and even some dressing up. Maybe it depends on the area where you live. Munich might have more Americans there and the halloween tradition is more common now.
No, at least not in our area. Halloween is a very American holiday, even though it became more popular in the last years in Germany. I would be surprised if schools have kids come dressed up for Halloween.
Halloween -in my area- is in some bars in the evening where people dress up and drink.
No, Halloween is not a German thing.
It depends how old the children are. Maybe some younger kids dress up but actually we don´t celebrate Halloween. And older children definitively don´t dress up for Halloween in school. But in the evening they are a few Halloween parties and they dress up for that. But not for school.
No, but they do ring the bells in the evening…to ask for sweets…or cigarettes or alcohol
Hi there,
I wouldn’t do it. Kids don’t do it (not for Halloween anyway, Karneval is a different story), so it would feel awkward and a bit out of place. I mean, unless it’s very young kids you are teaching and you want to tell them about US traditions. But really, just think of how you will be the only one sitting in the teachers’ room in costume.
But do have a good time afterwards
