Yes, I think it’s sad. It’s also sad that kids can’t celebrate Christmas at school because someone might get offended.
We always used to dress up for Halloween and have homemade cupcakes and stuff. God forbid, you can’t bring homemade goods nowdays because people will freak out. None of us ever got sick from something someone’s mom made.
I think I liked it better back in the old days when everything wasn’t so a-s-s kissy and we didn’t worry about offending every single person.
My kids school still allows it. That’s too bad.
Some parents are just too concerned about everything. They see costumes are some kind of threat or something/
Yes, it is ridiculous I believe that everyone should at least get to enjoy the holidays. It isn’t fair to take the fun away from the kids because other people ruined it for them. that really stinks for your son, he is really missing out on all of the holiday fun. Sorry.
Yes, Haloween is just a fun thing.
Religious fanatics are gaining ground, watch out!!!
yes i really wish i could dress up but we r’nt allowed to b/c as you know some people dress up in evil or gory costumes. But i think we should be allowed to as long as it’s appropriate and those who don’t listen can be punished not all of us by not being allowed to wear them the people who wear those bad things win. Which isn’t right.
I do understand why they can’t – it was all getting too competitive and stuff. I am a teacher and a mom, so I can see it from both sides. I had enough years of having a classroom full of kids trying to get dressed up at lunchtime, trying to corral them while they were full of sugar, making sure their costumes didn’t get ruined so they could wear them trick or treating, and seeing kids feel bad because their costumes were not "as good" as some others.
I think it’s best that it be left for "out of school". My son’s school later just had orange and black day and they still did activities.
For those who don’t want to get involved, they just shouldn’t, but not preach. Same with Christmas. Then don’t eat the candy and don’t get the days off at Christmas that we do…. (sorry to mix in another holiday)
No, parties should be held outside of school. Having a Halloween treat in school is okay, but parties should be the parent’s’ responsibility. Parents expect schools to take on too many of their responsibilities these days. Teachers are there to teach not be parents to the children.
I completely agree! I am lucky that my kids attend a small private Christian school and they do get to dress up for Halloween (no real scary stuff though). They also get to celebrate Easter and Christmas, two other holidays that the public school has banned!
yes i think its unfortunate in my experience with my son they had a fall festival,we have since moved and now my younger ones get to enjoy having parties at school
I didn’t realize schools no longer allowed it. I have very fond memories of school Halloween parties and having a Halloween parade around the school.
