Halloween isn’t scary anymore………?

You see all of these little kids with simply, not scary costumes. Like Telly Tubies, Cowboys, Superman- , fairy costumes. Etc …. Shouldn’t there be more scary costumes like Frankenstein? The whole "point" of Halloween Is to scary the monsters/ghosts away. maybe that stuff is scary to the "mosters" idk .

true people just think its " dress up as someone your not" even though people do everyday like emo kids and scene kids, pathetic but its halloween, enjoy yourself.

Technically, the point of the costumes were to confuse evil spirits. Besides, those teletubbies are pretty friggin’ creepy!

I don’t think in this day and age that it would be politically correct to try and intentionally scare people…which really sucks.

halloween isnt about that legend says that it is the only day when the dead can come back to earth and connect to their relatives we mostly just mock the holiday for what weve heard

Originally Halloween was a night when the ghosts and ghouls and other underworld spirits awakened and walked the earth, so when people ventured out they dressed up to blend in with them. Now, it seems like the tables have been turned, when the spirits awaken and see a Telly Tubby I’m sure they are the ones fleeing with fright.

Halloween costumes usually tend to reflect what’s popular in todays media. At the time when horror movies were big you would have seen alot more scary costumes. But currently Comic books movies are quite popular. Which is why you’ll see plenty of little Batman, Supermans, etc. Of course there’s always going to be a mix of just about everything, it’s just certain years some costumes are just alot more common.

Culturally and socially, it should be scary. In the Western world, this is our one chance to throw off the hegemony of our Western worldview and embrace something else. By all means, give children a chance to be "scary". It is, more than anything, a release. That having been said, the main point is for everyone to enjoy it. Halloween is a great time ! If we try and put it into on socio-cultural box Halloween we dress up, in winter, we exchange gifts ( I am Jewish, so you must understand why I didn’t say Christmas, although I do embrace it as a great time of year). and we embrace these things as a time for families to enjoy each other, which is common to all peoples. In short, while Halloween is better scary, it’s probably more important that it meets the needs of your family and gives you an opportunity to enjoy some time with your family. Hope you all have alot of fun this Halloween !!

The point of Hallowe’en is to get candy. What kind of twisted Hallowe’en did your parents give you as a child? Hehe…

One year we set a haunted house up in our garage for all of the kids to go through, and at the very end we put my 90 year old grandmother, dressed as a witch in a creaky old rocking chair with a cauldron full of candy…she got a kick out of it, and it scared the frak out of most of the kids.
