You might want to check out "Couples Costumes for Halloween (or anytime)" The article features pictures of various couples costumes so you can quickly tell which ones may or may not work for you and your fiance. Although many of the ideas probably cost more money than you would like to spend, you might be able to put together the majority of the costume right from your own closet and then just supplement with an accessory or two.

For example you can easily be Ken and Barbie and get away with simply buying a Barbie wig. ( I would probably dress Ken and Barbie in formal attire but you can almost do anything with this i.e. tennis, golf, swimsuit, tacky tourist, so long as your outfits coordinate.)

Another idea is to take white (or black) t-shirts and tag them — easy, cheap, and unique. Do the same with a plain baseball cap and wear it backwards.
