My kids came home with a note today from the school. This year instead of the same ol’ Halloween event, they have decided that we as parents need to send our child’s Halloween costumes to school…The problem I am getting stuck on…they want the costume to be a character in a book. Doesn’t matter what book…but they have to have the book (which I can get at the Library if need be) and the costume to go with it. I’m having problems with ideas. I have already bought costumes for them to wear trick or treating, but these won’t work for this event. I need something I can make or come up with pretty cheap. I have 4 daughters and I’m not much on spending a bunch on outfits they’ll wear only once. Any help would be much appreciated!! If you could suggest a book and costume for some ideas, you would be life savers!! I am looking for costumes for girls K-4 grades.

Sure, i see people of all ages (kids, teens, and adults) celebrate halloween and wear costumes and have fun.

But what do you think of others who say that "halloween is designed for kids only"

I was wondering if someone has an easy and quick how to make a costume for my kids pattern. I am looking for a classic witch costume and a devil costume for my kids for Halloween. I would like to use things that I already have in my house or that are relatively inexpensive(CHEAP!) to purchase and could be reused for regular kid play after that. I am not a seamstress by far but I do have access to a sewing machine and my mom IS an excellent seamstress so I am sure she would help if needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

now, I was thinking like cowgirl I guess that’s kinda cute but I need some more possibly I could make it homemade with usual home items. and I have a whole outfit for the whole cowgirl thing from her dance recital the puffy pink skirt, hat, boots, pink hair tie, cow pattern arm warmers and the whole shirt cow pattern thing again but if I can maybe get a few more ideas because I can make a lot of stuff and if I have the right material I can maybe make it even cuter than the cowgirl thing. NEED AN ANSWER SOON SO I CAN MAKE IT!!!!!!

We have a ‘Halloween’ costume. Meaning Micheal Myers! My brother is going to dress up. We had a scavenger hunt and man-hunt planned for outside, and it rained at the last minute. I need indoor party games! We can use the garage, the basement, or anywhere spooky. There are about 20 people coming. Help me out! Please remember to keep it scary. Thanks!

it is my friends little sisters party and i dont have the biggest chest in the world, so that kinda limits my choices. what do i wear?

They are 11 year Boy 9 year old girl 7 year old boy then a 4 year old girl

some preschools here have banned scary costumes on halloween. kids can only wear the cute stuff (read: fairies, thomas the tank engine, barney, friendly pirates, etc).
oh and i’m not talking about my children’s schools.
what’s your take on this?

I need cute and interesting Halloween costume ideas for my 4 kids : 6 year old girl, 4 year old girl and 1 year old boy/girl twins.

I want some ideas that would go together. Not all kind of random ideas.

the school’s theme is futuristic for halloween. well power rangers(or star wars , star trek costumes) comes to mind, but i have no idea where to get them. the local malls dont sell them.

I am trying to think of something cute for my 7 year old daughter and 3 year old son to go as. There is a costume contest in my town before trick or treat starts.

My daughter especially wants to try and win. Last year the family that won was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (it was a big family). I would be willing to dress up too. Any ideas?

i really want a SCARY SCARY halloween costume for kids.Not SO scary its rated PG13 but something at least a little scary.I don’t want a cheap disney princess.Please make it simple and i have no money so..it will be homemade from material

This year i wanted to make a stand and not give any kids candy who showed up in regular clothes and a sack for candy.
I wanted to say "sorry kid, no costume, no candy" or put out a sign or something, but when they showed up, i still gave candy.
I know some people will claim that costumes are expensive, but No,
I do not feel sorry for them, ever heard of a sheet for a ghost?
I saw a kid covered in card board and duct tape once and was an
awesome robo-cop
So what does everyone else think? Sadly i saw a few kids with their parents, they were all dressed decently, so they do have some money, but costumes weren”t an option for them. These parents were just lazy.
Wierd.

like i stated earlier, even poor people…with some effort can make a costume.
Card board is free if you ask a store clerk, you can ask a neighbor , family member, friend, for a sheet for a ghost,
you can aska local grocer for a few paper bags and make a cool costume.
Furthermore, like i said, lots of the kids who showed up at my door without a costume showed up in pretty nice clothes.

What’s your kids going as halloween? my 9 yr old daughter is going as a bratz pirate complete with boots and my son who is 20 months is going as a pirate from pirates of the caribeean. I do not have boots for him to wear and i do not want to buy them for one night for a few hours so can he just wear his sandals

I’m probably going to be responsible for passing out candy this year, and I was thinking of wearing a costume that the kids would be able to guess.

I’d like to be something/someone from pop culture, not something generic like a witch or a clown.

Any suggestions of pop culture icons that are easily recognizable to kids (ages 4 to 12) that I could be for Halloween?
