Back in 1993 was the last time I trick or treated (I’d just turned 12 and even then started thinking I was too old for that aspect), so it’s been awhile that I’ve seen everything firsthand. I wasn’t very much of a partier in high school or since, so all I’ve really done is watching scary movies or dressing up and stuff, but…

It seems like Halloween really is a shadow of its former self. Around here, it used to be a great time of trick or treating and people used to put up all sorts of decorations in front of their homes.

Now, we barely get kids trick or treating around here, and when they do it’s just in the late afternoon instead of at night (when it’s the most fun!). In the past I’d see trick or treaters over two hours later, probably from different neighborhoods making their way over here for more candy – I did that as a kid too.

Decorations have really been reduced. They’re still visible, but it’s usually simpler stuff, like a couple pumpkins or skeletions…they don’t really go all out. I also remember when you could dress up in your Halloween costume for school as a special "dress up" day. Now, I’ve heard the elementary schools don’t do that at all, the only schools around here that do that seem to be the high schools (which is ironic, older kids having Halloween costume day while younger kids don’t). Thankfully, the schools haven’t banned Halloween, which has actually happened in some places.

So is it just my area, or are people just not as excited about it these days?

I want to have a adult (22-35) scavenger hunt for halloween, but i am trying to figure out what kinds of things to do. For instance i know i want it an outdoor (going in to a store or other sorts is fine, just not in my house persay) (car necessary) I also dont want it to be quick preferably take some time with driving and what not up to 2 hrs. Teams of two 1 car, flashlights and need a camera. These are details i know are for sure needed, but as far as things to do i am not sure.

For instance, i am thinking of things along the lines of go into a cemetary and take a picture with a tombstone with the name mary johnson…..takea picture with two kids dressed in halloween costumes… take a picture with road kill…. things that are halloween orentiened, tricky to find, scary, etc…. any ideas… HELLLLPP!!

Hey HappyHalloween, I would only agree with you if you if my motive was to make fun of him or mock him in any way but I’m actually a big fan of his and I, like many others, want to pay him tribute and honor one of his biggest accomplishments. You don’t even know me. I can’t help but be offended by your "answer" and your audacity to tell me that I’m being rude.
